A garden as a connection to nature
I believe that spending time in nature gives us a chance to step away from the pace of modern life and reconnect with ourselves. A garden can offer that connection every day — a place to slow down and feel more present.
I design gardens that encourage you to spend more time outdoors and enrich everyday life — whether that means noticing wildlife, watching the seasons change, or creating spaces for time with family and friends.
My approach is planting-led, using naturalistic planting and simple, considered spaces rather than adding more than the garden needs.
HOW I WORK
Led by planting
I use paving and hard landscaping only where they’re needed, leaving as much space as possible for planting and nature. My planting is inspired by the way plants grow together in the wild — layered, related and changing with the seasons. The result is a garden that feels effortless and connected to nature, while still being thoughtfully composed.
Shaped around your life
Your garden should fit naturally into the way you live — but also encourage you to live a little more outdoors. We look at your routines, what you enjoy, how you like to spend time, and the atmosphere you want to create. The aim is a garden that feels easy to use and makes being outside a natural part of everyday life.
From design to completion
I stay involved beyond the visuals. Once the design is agreed, I develop the detailed information needed to build it, help you find a contractor who is the right fit for the project, and remain involved throughout the build. This means overseeing the works as the garden takes shape, helping resolve issues as they arise and maintain the quality, detail and intent of the original design.
SELECTED WORK
Front Garden in North London
A compact front garden designed to accommodate arrival, parking, bicycles and bins, while retaining a strong sense of planting. Clay pavers and corten steel steps are set within a soft matrix of grasses, ferns and perennials, creating a green, welcoming approach to the house.
Built, 2025 · Photography, 2026
“Maria did a fabulous job of redesigning our front garden and drive, incorporating all of our requirements, and adapting to the unforeseen challenges. We're delighted with the outcome, and can't wait to see how it changes with the seasons.”

A garden is more than plants and terraces. It is a place to feel at home.
01
Concept design
It begins with your brief and the site itself — orientation, levels, architecture and how you want to use the garden. These inform the layout, character and atmosphere, brought to you through plans, key views and planting and material direction.
THE PROCESS | THREE MAIN PHASES
02
Detailed design
The concept is developed into everything needed to build it well: a scaled masterplan, construction drawings, specifications and a fully resolved planting plan, with the design tested against the budget as it develops.
03
Build & planting
I help you find the right contractor and stay involved throughout the build, overseeing the design and resolving details on site. Planting is personally set out to ensure the finished garden achieves the intended result.
ABOUT
Design, rooted in nature
Maria trained at the London College of Garden Design at Kew, graduating with distinction. Her graduate project — a sculpture garden in Norfolk — was shortlisted for the Society of Garden Designers Awards 2025.
Before garden design, she worked on large-scale telecommunications projects across multiple countries. That experience continues to shape her approach today — bringing structure, precision and clear coordination to the design and build process.
Based in West London, Maria works across London and takes on selected projects further afield.
